Beach Wedding, The Breakwaters at the Dunes – Sea Isle City, NJ | Amy and Owen

In November we photographed a fabulous beach wedding for Amy and Owen O’Connell at a brand new venue never shot before, The Breakwaters at the Dunes – Sea Isle City, NJ. Their wedding was so much fun they shared it with the Philadelphia Inquirer and it was published! You can see the article HERE.

It was a gorgeous day for November wedding, and you can feel the excitement in the air. We started by hanging out with Owen and his guys where the party was already underway!

Snowy Engagement Session in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia | Dana + Tom

We recently did a snowy engagement session in the beautiful Fairmount Park with Dana + Tom. We waited over 3 months for the perfect snowy day, and when it came, we were ready!

After Valley Green Inn we headed over to one of my favorite spots to shoot, The Wissahickon Trail of Philadelphia. There we got a little bit more intimate, but also had a ton of laughs.

Welcome Rachel Amelio | The newest member of the Douglas James Team

We’d like to officially welcome the newest permanent member of the DJS team, Rachel Amelio!  Rachel has been second shooting for us for about 5 years and we can’t be more thrilled to now have her talent as our Associate Shooter. She is an amazing photographer and all of our clients just love her!

Here’s what Rachel has to say about joining the DJS Team.

“Hi! I am Rachel Amelio

I am so excited to become a key part of Douglas James Studios! When I picked up my first camera I just loved capturing every moment and photographing people. I love how you can capture someone’s personality through the lens. I took my photography to the next level when I attended Antonelli Institute and then graduated in 2012.

While I was in school I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to do weddings, boudoir, family portraits, or another of the many specialties in the world of photography. After graduating I interned for a photographer and went along for a wedding with her. I fell head over heels in love with weddings that day! I loved every moment. It was a wonderful mixture of all the excitement and nerves while getting ready, the excitement to see your partner for the first time, the sigh of relief after the ceremony, and of course, just the pure joy and fun during the reception. I had never seen so much emotion in one day and I loved being able to capture all it.

When I photograph a wedding I work hard to ensure the couple feels comfortable so their true personality can shine through. I love to give simple cues to create a moment and see how it organically unfolds. While photographing weddings I am always looking to push my creativity and create works of art for the couple.

I am most excited to become a part of Douglas James Studios because it allows me to stretch my creativity and work with the best couples! I love to capture the candid moments as well as create beautiful portraits that you can hang on your wall for years to come. I can’t wait to bring my style of photography to all the amazing couples that are booking with Douglas James Studios.”
